It was a paw, fully two feet and a half across, and equipped with formidable talons. After it came another paw, and after that a great black furred arm to which both paws were attached by short forearms. Then two pink eyes shone and the head of the awakened Gug sentry, large as a barrel, wobbled into view. The eyes jutted two inches from each side, shaded by bony protuberances overgrown by coarse hairs. But the head was chiefly terrible because of the mouth. That mouth had great yellow fangs and ran from the top to the bottom of the head, opening vertically instead of horizontally. This is five of eight creature/character that will be used later as a master reference for a series of compositions depicting scenes from the story ”The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath’ by H.P. Lovecraft. Not only is this the main project for my independent art study class but also has the intention that these could possibly be used for either the video game or movie industry. — H.  For a beastie with such a freakishly improbable anatomy - you've made him seem believable and real. I even get a sense of a quite different expression on the faces of the two colored figures.
What I especially like are the clever, segmented-looking claws which create something interesting and distinctive that enhances Lovecraft's conception. -- "Any sufficiently advanced vocabulary is indistinguishable from piffle" Ya to be honest every other design I ever saw never looked good to me and never was developed well. I wasn't really sure how exactly it was going to come out but I did know that I wanted to push the bones more and make the face more interesting. Plus everyone had the thing standing up but in the book it refers to it being crouched over or something because he said it was 20ft if it stood up all the way.

I'm just wondering where the brain is.lol. Somewhere behind the mouth? or Split in half? XD The side view of the head looks a bit like that of a boar. Liking the details on the eye and bony plates on back and limbs. and hair... yeah...awesome. I suck at hair. Fav'd XD |
