Well afterdoing two back to back "Want a constructive critique?" threads in the thumb share forum I think the need for an actual critique club on DA would be a good idea. There is a large population in DA that don't know how to give critiques let alone know how to take them well. While I know that there are such clubs already in existence on DA another one couldn't hurt and since there are a large volume of members would would love honest feed back not every club can handle them. I also want this club to be big deal and well known for a good reputation.

So how is this club going to be different?

Well first off this club is going to be designed not only to get critiques on our artwork but will also be a place of learning on how to do a proper critique, how to take a critique and the how to recognize the basics of art so even if you don't have high skill you can critique like you do. The club will in addition be a place for people to put up WIPs "works in progress" It will also be a place to where you can gain a little more exposer for more hits and such but really that will be only a side benefit. At first it will be a very simple format but as time goes on we may even have events such as Show Piece features and such

As the Club's leader what do I expect?

Well the biggest thing that I expect is participation and while I don't expect everyone to critique everything that gets posted up, though it would be nice, it is unrealistic but I do expect that you be active in doing so.

I expect rules of conduct to be followed.

I expect no elitist attitudes in this club.

I also am looking for officers in the club to help moderate behavior of members and spread the word of the club in the forums, their journals and in chat. However those in line to be officers must take the position seriously.

Lastly I expect all members to have fun and to learn.

I am happy to hear all feedback on this idea and welcome all suggestions that may be implemented at some point or time. I would also like to know who would be interested in being members.

Edit: Just to let you know before I create the club account I am doing journal write ups for the clubs use such as club rules and reference knowledge. I am also planning on rewards for those members who are active or do other good deeds with in the club.

a critique club sounds like an awesome idea. i've put up images with blatant mistakes in them, but people seem too afraid to post their thoughts... or maybe they are lazy, i don't know. also, i sometimes wonder the same, "does this artist really want me to criticise his work, or will he take it as an insult?" a club for people who want critiques would make things a little easier...

needless to say, i would love to be a member ^^

:plotting: . o O (:tea:)
This is a great idea, I would definitely join this club, you gave me a great critique on my painting five seconds after awakening and would like more critiques to come and to give critiques to others would me nice to do ;)

"fire took out the snow"
sign me up. i may not posts wips but i really would like to post my past paintings and see how they could be improved. i mean im actually a novice painter. never had any formal training, and the stuff i put on da is my only experience. so, in the end, i would love to join.

Peace V.. (mabye... *glares threatningly*... lol)

Everything Begins and ends in darkness, i merely choose to remain in it
I'd love to get involved with this. I've often considered doing it myself, but I realized how labor intensive a club like that would be, so I waited until someone else came up with it. :P

Well only have roast beef but if I had both I would use both with a little touch of horseradish sauce.

Not getting constructive critiques? Want to learn how to give better critiques? Then consider joining The Order of the Artists [link] a critique club focused on art education.
good choice
